DIY Home Décor

We recently redecorated our living room and thought it would be nice to do a little gallery wall with a few nice family pictures. Of course I went straight to Pinterest to gather inspiration for the layout! 😀 Whilst scrolling through I saw a few gallery walls that had used other small objects and things, rather than just photos, which I thought looked really nice. After searching in a few shops and not finding much that went with our theme, I decided to have a go at making something myself. I love how they turned out and they were so easy to make. They finish off the gallery wall perfectly 🙂 Continue reading

DIY Merry Christmas Bunting

IMG_1849 (2)

In my house on birthday celebrations we always hang colourful bunting somewhere and it always looks nice and adds a special touch, so this year I thought we should do the same but for Christmas. I decided it would be fun to make my own and choose the colours, fabric and length that I want. I’m really pleased with how it turned out and I think it makes a nice addition to our Christmas decorations 🙂 Continue reading

Beach Memories ♥

unnamed-1

If you know me you will know that I absolutely love beaches! My favourite have got to be the Caribbean beaches with the white sand and warm bright blue sea. Unfortunately where I live the beaches are not like that 😦 but I’m still happy spending the day on a cold, windy English beach with freezing cold sea! I’ve spent many birthdays huddled on the beach in August eating a picnic in the rain… but I love it 🙂 This past year I’ve been collecting a little bit of sand and some shells from my trips to different beaches with the idea that I would make something. I decided on this picture frame idea where I could hang the sand and shells along with pictures from that day. I’ve made a frame like this before as a wedding gift for my friend. I hung pictures and messages from all her friends. I loved how that turned out so I thought it would be perfect to display some of my favourite memories. Continue reading

DIY Earring Holder

img_0785-2

Hello I’m back again with another jewellery organising craft. In my last craft post I made a DIY jewellery box which is great for all my rings and stud earrings, so I just needed to figure out what I was going to do with all my necklaces and dangly earrings. After having another look on Pinerest for some ideas I decided I wanted to make a frame to hang my earrings on with hooks attached to the bottom for my necklaces. My original idea was to get little hooks I could screw into the bottom of the frame but I couldn’t find ones that I wanted, then I came across this little set of four hooks which I thought was perfect to put just underneath the frame. I also got two separate little hooks so I could hang them higher up beside the frame for my longer necklaces. I love how this project turned out 🙂 My little jewellery area looks so much nicer and everything is organised so I can actually see what I’ve got now! Hopefully I shall start wearing more of my jewellery now I can see it all. Continue reading

DIY Jewellery Box

img_0663-3

For a while now I’ve stored all my jewellery in a big treasure chest type box which I was very excited about when I first got because it looks really nice and matches the theme of my room perfectly, but I’ve realised it’s not very practical for everyday use. I end up wearing the same pair of earrings every day because I just grab the ones that are out and that I can see, rather than rummaging through the big box to find a different pair. I had a look on Pinterest for some ideas on how I could display my earrings and I came across lots of ideas for making your own jewellery stands and jewellery boxes. I just happened to already have a pretty little box that I hadn’t managed to find a good use for, so I thought it would be perfect to make into a little jewellery box. I absolutely love how it turned out and I can’t wait to have a go at making another DIY jewellery holder to display all my necklaces and other bits and pieces! 🙂 Continue reading

Memory Jar

IMG_4917 (2)

Now I’m a little late getting round to making and posting this as it’s nearly a year since I went to Barbados… but hey, better late than never right? So I saw this idea on Pinterest and loved the thought of making a jar that captures a memory of a time or place, and I thought it would be the perfect thing to make and keep as a reminder of my holiday to Barbados.  When I think of Barbados the beach is one of the first things I think of as they are beautiful and are where I spent most of my time, so that is the theme I went with for my jar. Homemade Candles

I love candles and always thought it would be fun to make my own. When I looked up how to make homemade candles they all say you should melt the wax in a pan using a thermometer, and heat it to a specific temperature. I don’t have a thermometer and I didn’t like the sound of trying to clean wax off the pan afterwards, so I thought I would just do it my own way and see what happened. I decided to melt the wax in a paper cup in the microwave and it worked perfectly 🙂  I had no mess to clean up and just threw the cup away after, which seems like a much easier option to me!! Gingerbread Challenge

IMAG0879

When I was at uni, me and my housemates used to love to gather together on a Tuesday night to watch ‘The Great British Bake Off’ (If you don’t know what that is, it’s a baking competition where the contestants take on different baking challenges every week).  In one particular episode the contestants had to create gingerbread structures. After seeing the amazing structures the contestants came up with (Buckingham Palace, the Coliseum, Big Ben) we thought it would be fun to have our own little Bake Off competition, so we split into pairs and set some rules… Continue reading

Homemade Gift Box

IMG_3552

For Christmas this year I decided to make some candles as gifts for my family members. I was trying to think of a good way to wrap them and I thought it would be nice to make a little gift box. As this was for a Christmas present the decoration I chose was very Christmassy, but you can make these gift boxes any time of year, for other occasions like birthdays, and use different patterns and colours. I am really pleased with how the box turned out and I can’t wait to give them to my family members on Christmas day. Continue reading
